This website is administered by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) from Ottawa, Canada.

1. YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT

These website Terms of Use are an agreement between you and FCAC regarding your access to and use of the financial education program, The City: Financial Life Skills (The City) on FCAC’s website, themoneybelt.gc.ca, and all of the content available on or through The City. Each time you use The City, you signify that you understand and accept these Terms as they then read.

2. OWNERSHIP AND PERMITTED USE OF WEBSITE

We established the website solely for educational purposes and the distribution of information. The City and all of its content, including information (in text, graphical, video and audio forms), images, icons, software, and other elements, are the property of the FCAC and the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) and are protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark and other laws.

All rights in the website are reserved except that the FCAC grants permission to:

  1. each viewer of the website to display the content of the website on the viewer's computer and
  2. teachers, students and members of the general public to download, print and use the content of the website without modification for not-for-profit educational purposes.

3. TRADEMARK INFORMATION

There are many trademarks, trade names and logos displayed on the website. You can't use them except as described in these Terms and in accordance with trademark law.

4. RESTRICTED AREAS AND PASSWORDS

You can access certain areas of the website only by using an email address and password (together, your ID). It's in these areas that you enter your personal information and participate in the activities available within The City. We can't and don't take responsibility for verifying that you're actually the person using your ID.

When registering or logging in to The City an email address and password ID will be required.

  1. You are responsible for the security of your ID and any use and misuse of it.
  2. You must keep your ID secure and confidential at all times and not disclose it to any other person or permit any other person to use it.
  3. You can use your ID only if you comply with these Terms.
  4. You must immediately notify the FCAC (click on Contact Us) if you know or suspect that your ID has been lost or stolen, or become known to or used by any other person.
Note: A teacher may be permitted to contact FCAC on behalf of one of his student to resolve technical issues. When doing so, the teacher’s identity will be verified by FCAC and only the student name will be required.

5. DISCLAIMERS

You use the website at your own risk. We won't be liable for any loss arising from your use of it.
The website is not intended to provide specific financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and you shouldn't rely on the website for that purpose.

6. PRIVACY

We respect your privacy and always collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with our privacy policy, which you can read by clicking on Privacy Statement.

We provide links to other websites that are not under our control. We do this as a convenience and for reference only.  We do not endorse, recommend or accept any responsibility for the content of these websites.

8. CHANGES

From time to time, we may change these Terms by updating this posting. If you use the website after the change is posted, you accept and agree to be bound by the new Terms. You should review these Terms as you continue to use the website.

9. TERMINATION OF WEBSITE USE

If you breach these Terms, you can no longer use the website.

The website is controlled by FCAC from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. These Terms and your use of the website are governed by the laws in force in Canada.

11. COPYRIGHT

All rights in these materials are reserved to the BCSC. BCSC has granted a license to FCAC for the purpose of adapting the material for a national audience and to disseminate to teachers, students and members of the general public. Excerpts of the materials may be reproduced without modification for not-for-profit educational use.
